Great Ocean Map from NGS and COML
The Census of Marine Life and National Geographic have collaborated to create a wonderfully detailed map of the ocean and its geography, from the Arctic to the Antarctic, that also shows at a glance some of the major findings of the COML. One side is titled Diversity, Distrubtion, and Abundance where you'll find locations of things like seamounts and coral reefs worldwide, migration tracks of sea turtles, sharks, and other large marine animals, and images of new species discovered during the COML, many of which appear in Journey into the Deep. On the map's flip side is Ocean Life: Past, Present, and Future. Download PDF versions of both sides of the map at http://www.comlmaps.org/oceanlifemap. This is a terrific resource for teachers!
Ocean Week Blog
My fantastic editor at Millbrook Press/Lerner, Carol Hinz, ran a terrific blog last week focusing on Journey into the Deep and the process of turning my manuscript into the reality of a beautiful book. Other contributors included designer Danielle Carnito and photo researcher Julie Caruso. Read their comments for some real behind the scenes insights! COML/NGS video
Check out the video link to the right under LINKS.
You'll find three videos created by the Census of Marine Life and NatGeo. The middle one is a sort of "music" video. Creative idea!
